The Fall Institute brings together early childhood professionals from across the state for a unique professional development opportunity. We invite you to join us as we network, share and learn together.

Event Information

  • Date: October 6-7, 2023 from 8:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Registration check-in times: 7 a.m.-8 a.m. Oct. 6-7
  • Location: Prairie Meadows Casino, Racetrack, and Hotel (1 Prairie Meadows Dr, Altoona, IA 50009)
  • Event Registration Deadline: September 25, 11:59 p.m.

I really enjoyed the keynote speakers, both were very inspiring. The keynote really knew how to pump a crowd up and keep us engaged in his presentation. What an incredible opportunity being part of Iowa AEYC’s Fall Institute, I look forward to returning!

Friday Keynote: Holly Elissa Bruno

Holly Bruno smiling

Holly Elissa Bruno, best-selling and award-winning author, international keynote speaker, and Active Childhood UK live streamer served as Maine assistant attorney general, dean, and associate professor at the University of Maine-Augusta. An alumna of Harvard’s Institute for Educational Management, Bruno taught early childhood leadership courses nationwide and in Singapore for Wheelock College (now Boston University).

Her sixth book, “Happiness is Running Through the Streets to Find You: Translating Trauma’s Harsh Legacy into Healing,” was released by Exchange Press (March 2020) and sparked an international conversation on choosing hope in unbearable times.

Saturday Keynote: Jason Kotecki

Jason Kotecki is an artist who speaks. Really, really well! He is an expert at helping people “Escape Adulthood,” in order to restore balance, beat burnout, and become more innovative by breaking rules that don’t exist. His mission is to fight Adultitis, sharing strategies from childhood to create lives with less stress and more success. Jason is passionate about sharing his message that there is more to life than the hectic busyness, cynical lethargy and overwhelming stress that is typical of most modern lives. Pre-Institute Workshop

Learn about our Pre-Institute Workshop on Thursday, October 5 about Project Approach, co-presented Rebecca Wilson and Dawn Johnson, featuring guest speaker Judy Harris Helm.

Training Credits

The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and Northwestern College both offer training credit hours for attending the Fall Institute.

Registration and Pricing

Find all the information you need to know about registering for the Fall Institute, as well as member pricing. If you are registering a group of ten or more people, email jonni@iowaaeyc.org.

Cancellation Policy

If you must cancel, refunds can be made if cancellation notice is received via email to jonni@iowaaeyc.org by September 25, 2023 at 5:00 pm. After September 25, absolutely no refunds will be given and all registered attendees must pay registration fees.

T.E.A.C.H. Turns 20!

T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood® Iowa is turning 20! Join us on October 6th, directly following Friday’s session of the Fall Institute. The celebration will begin at 4:45 p.m. at Prairie Meadows Hotel in Altoona. If you are a T.E.A.C.H. and/or WAGE$ participant that plans to attend, let your counselor know you will be there – we would love to meet our participants!

Please note: you do not have to be registered for the Fall Institute in order to attend the celebration – please be sure to RSVP here!
